Reap in Joy
Psalm 126, recited as the introduction to Grace after meals on the Sabbath and holidays. The last five lines are a collection of verses from other psalms (145, 115, 118, and 106).
A song of stages:
God led us back to Israel as if in a dream.
We were full of joy and song. We were exultant.
God had done wonders for us; others noticed it too.
Oh Lord, may exile become as unlikely as streams rushing through the Negev.
We cry now, but we will return home joyfully, holding the fruits of our labors.
When we reach the stage where we can fully appreciate who we are, and what we have, then our praise for God is unending.
